Artist Jae Dougall was born in the Philippines, and now makes her home in Canada. Influenced by Dutch Modernists, her style is distinctive and immediately recognizable. Bringing bold, vivid colors, and creating almost musical lines, with bold strokes, Jae starts her works with dark grounds, surfacing to light and structure with intense colors. Blossom Elegance I is indicative of her process, this time using a softer color palette of palest yellow, parchment, hints of gold, and delicate pink and sage green for the stunningly detailed rose. Our tapestry blanket of her work brings all the brilliant colorations, and the delicate detail of the botanicals to fruition in textile form.
